Tonight at 6 I'll learn some new tricks to add to the RRBJ high tech publishing bag.
Last week
KTBS sponsored an essay contest. The local ABC affiliate was looking for viewers who wanted to be a part of their neighborhood news team. The four winners of the contest would receive a high definition camcorder and provide weekly videos to the station for use on-air and on the web.
I won one of the cameras. Groovy-doovy! Tonight we get schooled on how to use them and I'm sure some citizen journalist bits. Let the adventure begin. And let me just add..."stay tuned for this very important video broadcast..."

Congrats!
this is awesome!
if you need any music, ya know for broadcast or whatev, just hit me up!
How cool! I guess I better start watching the Shreveport news more often!
Can you publish the essay that won you the camera?
Kathleen
jcoltf - Thank you.
schleuss -- I'll keep that in mind. I do want to do a story on the green bikes. Can you give me the hook up?
dotsmom/kathleen -- I'll try to post essay. Also how about a story on a professor who lives in the country (low tech) and will teach via computer (high tech). Will you think about letting me invade your country privacy this summer?
I know a little bit about news gathering. If you need some help, don't hesitate to contact me.
I may take up on the offer. One of the lessons I think I'm supposed to be learning is to ask for help.
But after having the camera for one week I still feel that there's no hope for me. I'm struggling to remember to take the lens cap off the camera and not panic when all I get is a black screen. Don't you hate the learning curve when it comes to something new?
Hey, I do have an idea for you and your mystery swamp...once I master shooting VO.
