Number 3

Whose House is in the Background?
Shreveport is number three in the nation when it comes to places in America to make independent films. Austin is number one says MovieMaker.

KTBS has this little blurb on it. We'd link to the Shreveport Times story but they always dead their links after a month or so... The best place to go for all your moviemaking Shreve news is Alexandyr Kent's blog.

Rotted Louisiana

Getting Organized Door Like a Wedding Cake Top of File Cabinet

A trip to to the Louisiana State Office Building on Fairfield Avenue turned into a study of rust. When you live in the historic Highland district decay and ruin happens, we just didn't expect to find in that wee building that looks like a park restroom located next to the south parking lot.

That building is abandoned. What a lovely little home it would make. A tiny house.

Yeero!!! Yeero!!!

Inside Yeero!!! Yeero!!! One of the Stautes on the Grounds of Yeero!!! Yeero!! Drive-Through Menu
The island of Yeero!!! Yeero!!! looks like a white beach with blue water highlights. At least that's what RRBJ thought while standing across the street in the parking lot of Walgreens.

The interior is a dramatic contrast. The compact ten table dining room shimmers with romance. There's even a fireplace. In fact it was so nice we figured there was nothing we could afford on the menu. Wrong. It's the same delicious food as the drive-through menu only it's served up on real plates and the water comes in stemmed goblets. This local Greek restaurant deserves all six of those exclamation points.

One of Trudeau's first posts on his blog was on this restaurant at 4511 Youree Dr. Also - here's an amusing look by Daddy D (Darrell Rebouche) on what kind of reaction you can expect when you recommend on of the finest local eating establishments around.

Pups

Sign at the Corner of College and Creswell
Gabe is missing and needs his medcine. RRBJ took this pic at the corner of Creswell and College while out walking our dogs yesterday. KTBS has this positive story about a local pit bull.Hero Pit Bull It's the heart touching story of a dog waiting near his owner even after the young man passes away. In other local canine stories, Shreveport has lost its advocate for a dog park. Who will step in and continue the work? Krewe of Barkus and Meoux Pet Parade is Sunday, January 27, 2008 at the RiverView Park.

Sex Superstore

Sex Superstore in Highland

...in Highland? RRBJ found this sign on the side of the old Video Express building at the corner of Centenary Blvd and and Stoner Avenue. Katee was the one who pointed out the 555 number.

It's time to email movie blog boy to see what he knows.

We Was All Happy When Elvis Played the Hayride

Elvis Presley

It's the birthday of the King. RRBJ salutes the man who The Shreveport Times said created "one of the finest displays of mass hysteria in Shreveport history."

Elvis Arron Presley was born January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. Celebrate with the hip story about Shreveport at ElvisNews.com.
