Shreveport Jammy

KTBS Blog Jam
February is sweeps month for television. That's why Lost was fresh and why all the local newscasts are running "special" features. Notable on the 10 pm KTBS cast last night was a report on blogging. We couldn't help but note their story was called "BLOGJAM."

Shreveport Bloggers Robert Trudeau and Jeff Sadow were both interviewed. Also getting good face time was the web developer for Centenary College, Michael Futreal. Funniest part of the story? Video of Alexandyr Kent's Louisiana Movies Blog. Kent is the entertainment reporter for The Times newspaper in Shreveport.

KTBS also introduced the new blog feature on their website: ArkLaTexBlog, which is a good name, almost as good as Red River Blog Jam.

Thanks, Kathryn. This morning, btw, I got around, at last, to putting links on SptBlog to you and jane donut.

What other local bloggers might I add to my links?

I think you got slighted. We should complain. Or at least get them to include a link here from the KTBS blog.

The story seems to continue the error that commenting on a blog is "blogging":

"Sadow says things really begin heating up on his blog during statewide elections and sometimes before local elections. The day before the Shreveport mayor's race he was receiving nearly 100 blogs on it daily."

Commenting is commenting. Making what the people comment on is blogging. In fact, a blog need not even allow comments. A blog, short for web log, is a user-generated website where entries are made in journal style and displayed in a reverse chronological order.

Sorry for the rant. Pet peeve.

Trudeau - thank you for the add. I'm adding you as soon as I figure links out. See, we need to start the Louisiana Blog awards so we can ferret out the good blogs (of course what qualifies as a good blog? at least once a month posts? who would judge?)

Janedoughnut - Again links. Something to think about. And brings up the question is it really a blog if the mainstream media is responsible for it?

Kevan - good catch. Ranty is fantastic.

Noma - you so sweet.
